Narconon Watch

The fact is that the World is suffering greatly at the hands of many toxic substances. These drugs, both legal and illicit, are ruining millions of lives every single day and any program that truly helps should be welcomed with open arms. However, some people are suspect of help and others are critical of drug-free programs in the face of the pharmaceutical onslought that has invaded the field of drug addiction treatment. Others, still, are just plain biggots and will not listen to the thousands of successful, drug-free lives that have been helped by Narconon centers around the globe, and instead focus on a handful of dissenters. Do not let a few negative stories overshadow four decades of legitimate rehabilitation successes. Chances are, someone in your town has been helped by Narconon in some way or another.
Results and Outcomes of the Narconon Program
The end goal of someone completing the Narconon drug rehabilitation program is said to be an ethical, productive, drug-free contributing member of society. This is measured through routine follow-up of program graduates. Currently The Narconon Network has a 76 % success rate nationwide. The subject of repeat graduates occasionally comes up. Unfortunately, it may take someone more than one time through the program to finally "get it". The downside is that they didn't achieve the end result the first time through. The upside is that the individuals specifically chose to return to a Narconon program because they know it can work for them. And, while Narconon programs are actually about middle of the road for a long-term program as far as cost, they usually only charge half price for a program review, whereas a traditional 12-step programs often expect relapse and continue to charge full price at readmission. The are a couple of tools used to measure change in a person before, during and after the Narconon program. One standard test used is called the ASI, which stands for the Addiction Severity Index. This is a very long questionnaire that is one of the most common tests in the field to measure the level of drug use and help identifiy additional problem areas in life when going through the rehabilitation program. Narconon also uses two additional measurement tools to check IQ and personality traits. These simple tests, done correctly, do accurately show improvement in a person's mood and pesonality as well as intelligence.
Narconon's Drug Education and PreventionNarconon has been providing drug education and prevention presentations to young people all over the world for more than two decades. These live presentations (as well as videos from Friends of Narconon) present additional information to kids about drugs in a way that they enjoy as well as respond to. While there have been some upsets about misinformation regarding these presentations, there are literally hundreds of thousands of comments and postive feedback questionnaires from students, and hundreds of letters of support and thanks from teachers.

Critics of the Narconon Program
When something is as successful as the Narconon Program, it will undoubtedly draw critics, whether out of competition and jealousy, biggotry or just plain lack of correct information. There are a few websites run by a small number of people that try to post negative information about Narconon and scare people away from getting effective help. The result has been that, over the years, some people have died from substance abuse without getting a chance to go through a program like this. The blood is on the hands of the critics, yet they would of course never admit it.Unfortunately, there is no program out there that will always help 100 percent of people get off drugs. Substance abuse is a very insidious personal, familial and societal infliction, and scaring someone away from a program that has a better chance at helping them than traditional mental health practices is actually pure evil. A good question to ask yourself is: Why would someone not support a group of people and organizations that are helping people get off of drugs?
